The NiD4OCEAN team, including coordinator Marta Moyano, participated in WindEurope 2025, where they took the opportunity to pre-announce the exciting NiD4OCEAN Innovation Challenge. This challenge, aimed at encouraging nature-inclusive designs for floating offshore wind infrastructure, was officially introduced during the “Beyond Turbines: Powering the Future and Boosting Marine Nature” event, organised by OCEaN – Offshore Coalition for Energy and Nature, Renewables Grid Initiative (RGI), and WindEurope.
The team’s pre-announcement highlighted the importance of developing solutions that balance the need for clean energy with the protection of marine ecosystems. The NiD4OCEAN Innovation Challenge invites innovators from across the globe to submit their nature-inclusive concepts, focusing on mitigating the negative impacts of offshore wind farms and enhancing marine biodiversity.
Over the course of three days, the team also connected with more than 24 SMEs and start-ups, engaging in valuable discussions about nature-inclusive concepts for floating offshore wind infrastructure. These conversations helped to further promote the challenge and underscore the project’s commitment to advancing sustainable offshore energy solutions.
A special thank you goes to our partners at OCEaN and RGI for their excellent organisation of the panel discussions and side events. Their support in amplifying the message of the Innovation Challenge has been invaluable.
Our team left the event inspired, and looking forward to WindEurope Annual Event 2026 in Madrid, where we will present updates and share the latest results from our project, further advancing the conversation on nature-inclusive solutions in offshore renewables.
